88, of Sun City, AZ died unexpectedly on Friday, September 27, 2013 in Sun City. Mary was born in Lancaster, MO on April 15, 1925 to Fred and Opal George. She had an older brother, Dr. Harold E. George and a younger sister, Betty L. Moore. She graduated at the age of 16 from Lancaster High School and attended Northeastern Missouri University at Kirksville. She met Ray Yetter in Lancaster and they married on March 4, 1945 and they had two daughters, Patricia Heimann and Janice Skinner. Ray got a job at E. I. DuPont, in Seneca, IL and they resided there for 36 years before retiring to AZ in 1984. Mary was a homemaker and worked in two Seneca grocery stores and also a restaurant as well as a school bus driver for special needs children. She was first a proud mother, a seamstress to keep the girls in clothes; an upholsterer to redecorate the house; a quilter, machine embroiderer, and did any kind of handwork after retiring to AZ; a long time Girl Scout leader; an avid sports fan of the White Sox, Bears and DePaul Basketball team; and a golfer. After moving to AZ, she proudly hit two “holes in one”. For many years she volunteered and participated in activities at the Peoria Senior Center and participated in blood drives and blood pressure monitoring for Boswell Hospital. Mary and Ray always were very active in the communities in which they lived. She and Ray were members of the Seneca United Methodist Church until they came to AZ where they joined the Community Church of Joy in Glendale. Mary is survived by daughters, Jan and Pat; five grandsons and their wives – Justin Shayne, Joshua, Jared, Jeremiah and Josiah Skinner, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray, her parents, brother, sister and both son-in laws. Mary developed dementia and in the past year she lived in Sun City at the Advanced Assisted Living Residential Home of Mihaela and Nick Kovacs along with their teenage children. She felt like she was part of their family and had premier care allowing her to remain active, independent and safe. Pat, Jan and the family are very appreciative of the love and care Mary received. Cremation has been accorded to Mary’s wishes. The Memorial services will be held at Menke’s Funeral Home in Sun City on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that memorials in Mary’s name be directed to donor’s choice. Private interment of Ray and Mary’s remains will occur at a later date.
