Mary V. (McDermott) Wright, 88, of Sun City, AZ, formerly of Braintree, MA passed away on April 28, 2015. Mary was born in Dorchester, MA on January 3, 1927. Mary graduated from St. Margaret’s High School in Dorchester, MA and graduated from secretarial school in Boston, MA. She was an administrative assistant for the State of Massachusetts in Boston, MA and later was a secretary for Allstate Insurance in Braintree, MA. Mary married Thomas Wright on May 2, 1964 and joyfully celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary last year. She moved to Arizona in November 2013 with her husband and was a devout parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Sun City, AZ. Mary previously served as Treasurer for the St. Thomas More Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Braintree, MA and was a volunteer collector for the American Heart Association. Mary loved to recite the rosary and other prayers every morning and she was an avid Red Sox, Celtics, Patriots, and Bruins fan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Helen (Shanahan) McDermott of Quincy, MA, and her sister Helen Nader of Falmouth, MA. Mary is survived by her husband of 50 years, Thomas M. Wright of Sun City, AZ. Besides her husband, Mary is survived by her only child, Sean T. Wright and his wife Wen-ying (Hsieh) Wright of Sun City, AZ. She is the beloved grandmother of two grandchildren, Christine A. Wright and James S. Wright of Sun City. She is also survived by her sister’s husband, Joseph Nader and his three children, Donna Mueller, Christopher Nader, and Michael Nader. Mary is the godmother of Michael Nader and James Wright. Visiting hours will be held from 3PM to 6PM with a rosary recital from 5PM to 6PM on Monday May 4 at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center located at 12420 N. 103rd Ave. Sun City, AZ 85351. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday May 5 at 10AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church located at 9728 W. Palmeras Drive Sun City AZ 85373 with burial following at Sunland Cemetery located at 15826 W. Del Webb Blvd Sun City AZ 85351.
