Mary Utley Heggie Bell

Mary Jane Utley Heggie Bell passed away peacefully on September 16, 2010 in Peoria, AZ. She was born in Chicago, IL to the late Edward & Thea (Johnson) Utley in 1922. She held a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan and received her Education Specialist in Guidance & Counseling, Master of Education, and Doctor of Education degrees from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. Her occupations included teacher, counselor, school principal, college instructor, and consultant. A lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church, she was very active in many church functions, especially the Presbyterian Women. She was a long time member of the PEO. In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her first husband, Glen Heggie, and brothers Roger, Charles, Jack, and Edward. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Frederick Bell, just 3 weeks earlier. She is survived by sons Glen (Claudia) Heggie of Scotts, MI; Mark (Toni) Heggie of Greenville, OH; Dennis (Mary Alice Mirochna) Bell of Madison Heights, MI; and Tim (Peggy) Bell of Wilmington, DE. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Mary Utley of Bethesda, MD, and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the First Presbyterian Church of Sun City, AZ, 12225 N. 103rd Ave, Sun City, AZ 85351
