Mary Brooks

Mary Niece Brooks of Sun City, Arizona passed away November 08, 2014 at the Cook Health Care facility in Youngtown where she had resided for the past two years since suffering a stroke. She was overcome by deteriorating health due to that stroke. Born in a small town in Wisconsin on June 30, 1924 to Martin and Luna (Wells) Oudenhoven, she lived and worked in Waukesha, Wisconsin. After World War II, she married her first husband, Leslie Edward (Felix) Niece and the years following moved to Arvada, Colorado. Her career highlight was being the executive secretary to the Chief of Police in Arvada, Colorado, retiring after 19 years of work. After the death of her first husband, she remarried and with her second husband, Albert Oscar Brooks, they spent much of their time between Littleton, CO and Zapata, TX. Upon his death, she spent her remaining widowed years in Sun City enjoying the companionship of Bennett Erickson, with who she loved to go dancing, fishing, trailer camping and sitting on the back porch. Mary will be greatly missed and is survived by her brother, Martin Samuel Oudenhoven; sister, Luna Moretti Fish. Also her children Bonnie (Niece) Oakley of Albuquerque, NM, Marty Niece of Bellevue, WA, Randy Niece of Haymarket, VA, Linda (Knepp) Niece, deceased and Kenneth Niece, deceased, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Per her final instructions, there will be no funeral or memorial service. She will be cremated and her remains laid to rest in the Prairie Home Cemetery in Waukesha, Wisconsin near her mother and father.
