Marjorie (Marge) Mead, 94, passed away after a long journey from Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. Born in Green Bay, WI, Marge married Frank on November 5, 1949; they celebrated their 70th Anniversary before Frank’s passing in March 2020.
Marge was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, colleague and friend. As an accomplished violinist she played in the Green Bay Symphony before moving to Phoenix in 1971 with the youngest 6 of the 8 children. Marge pursued her lifelong dream of obtaining a college degree later in life, becoming a teacher at Glendale Community College in 1981. She was involved with numerous civic organizations, leaving a legacy of passionate community activism.
Marge is survived by her sister, Lorraine Daniels; children: Terrance, Karen (Tim), Kenneth (Emilie), Susan (Raymond), Janice, Brian, Marilyn and Diane; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces.
A celebration of the lives of both Marge and Frank will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, April 28th at All Saints of the Desert Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or your charity of choice.
