Marilynn McSweeney

November 24, 1962 — March 11, 2020

Marilynn Pi’ilagi McSweeney November 24, 1962 - March 11, 2020 Marilynn, 57, passed Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Banner Boswell, Sun City, Arizona after a period of declining health. Marilynn was born in the beautiful Laie, Oahu, Hawaii on November 24, 1962. Daughter of Marianne Decker and sister of Alafia, who passed at a young age. In '67 they moved to California and David Brown was adopted into their family, and in '72 Lorraine joined the family. Growing up Marilynn enjoyed sports, surfing, and rebelling against her mother's rules. She was always a free spirit. She met her hubby, Daniel McSweeney, in '83 and they married 3 years later in '86. Another 6 years later Marilynn had her baby girl Nichole, and 5 years later they had their son Sean. Marilynn was always active in the kids’ sports and other school activities. She was a hard worker and spent over 15 years with Banner working in medical records. She was well-loved in the workplace, always participating in company potlucks, bake sales, and parties. She made friends with everyone, well-known for her “feistiness” and her love of Mentos. Marilynn participated in volunteer work, including over five years at the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Walk with her daughter, Nikki. She had a big heart and would give you the shirt off her back. The kids’ friends referred to her as “Mama Mare” or “Mama Bear”. She fought and beat breast cancer in 2019. She did not want people to know about her battle, because she always put everyone else before herself. She was always the bringer of light, the biggest ball of sunshine, and she will be greatly missed.
