Marian (Kalisch) Lorton, age 96, of Sun City, AZ left us on November 21, 2015. Marian was born on August 2, 1919 in North Dakota. She was the daughter of Dorothy Kalisch and Alexander Kalisch both German immigrants. She was preceded in death by her brother Howard Kalisch and has a sister Gerry Ruiz living in San Diego. Having moved many times in her childhood, she and her family moved to Decatur, IL where she met the love of her life Bruce Lorton. They married in 1941, moved and eventually established a loving home they built in Highland, Indiana to raise their family. They worked many hours, always improving their lives. Marian was a volunteer in the Red Cross during WWII. As a young matron, she enjoyed an active social life and held chairman positions in Mother's Club and a Fine Arts chairman in Junior Women's Club to name a few. Also, she belonged to Garden club, bridge club and volunteered in many service activities along the way. In retirement, Marian and Bruce bore the fruits of their persevering work and planning, in retiring early after her husband's major illness. They moved to sunny San Diego and had an active social life. They traveled around the country and into Canada in an RV. They also took trips with friends around the world to Australia, England, France and Japan to name a few. Marian and her husband were always working to their utmost to better their lives and the lives of their children and grandchildren. They leave behind firstborn Roger Bruce Lorton and secondly Linda (Lorton) Sullivan (Michael), and later their "legacy" of grandchildren: Lauren Estes (Gregory), James Sullivan, Paul Lorton (Angie) and Amber Escobedo (Daniel) and five great-grandchildren with one on the way. This was a beloved girl, woman, wife, mother and grandmother who filled every minute of her life and showed us the way to live.
