Margaret Elizabeth Orona (81) went home to be with the Lord on October 9, 2019.
A native of Arizona, Margaret was born in Tempe on July 9, 1938 to Sara Orozco and Rosalio Munoz.
The granddaughter of a Methodist minister, Margaret had a heart for her church and served there faithfully, often playing the piano or helping with the youth group. Margaret was passionate about music and her greatest joy was using her beautiful voice to sing to the Lord. She spent many years singing in church with her closest friends. And in 1967, a young man who walked into First Methodist Church, heard her sing for the first time and was never the same. They married and spent their life making music together and raising their children to do the same.
A woman of remarkable faith and the heart of her family, Margaret was adored by all who knew her. A loving wife, a gentle mother, a loyal friend, and a beloved sister. She willingly offered her time, talents, and treasures to those she cared about, putting others before herself at all times. She was a faithful prayer warrior and trusted confidant. Her compassion and quiet strength made her a rock on which so many leaned. And through every hardship she endured, she strove to point others to Jesus.
Margaret was preceded in death by her mother and father and was reunited with her daughter, Josephine Orona. She is survived and deeply loved by her husband of 52 years, Geno Orona, her two sons and their wives, Alex and Julie Orona, and Fernando and Eileen Orona, five grandchildren, Celine, David, Daniel, Sofia, and Isaiah, her sisters, Sarah Alvarado, Alexis Campos (Rudy), Dolores Amavisca, and Simone Lustig, her brother, David Amavisca, and countless nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 19th at Palm Valley Church, 431 N. Litchfield Rd., Goodyear, AZ, 85338.
