Margaret Nancy Hathaway

December 10, 1939 — September 13, 2024

Margaret Nancy Hathaway, affectionately known as Margie, was born on December 10, 1939, in Long Island, New York. She passed away on September 13, 2024 in Sun City, Arizona, leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and an indomitable spirit that touched everyone she encountered.

Margie's journey through life was enriched by her strong work ethic, having been an assembly woman at several factories. However, her most cherished role was that of a devoted family member. She exited the 8th grade with the singular purpose of caring for her mother, showcasing her unwavering commitment to those she loved.

Margie was a feisty and stubborn little Sicilian woman, known for her heart of pure gold and vibrant personality. She had a remarkable sense of humor that brought joy to any gathering, and her strong New York accent made even simple statements entertaining, as she would say “Terlet, Tin-Furl, Erl in the car.” These unique phrases were music to the ears of her family, igniting bursts of laughter all around. Her passion for family shone brightly during the holiday seasons when her face would light up amid gatherings filled with warmth and joy.

Her proudest accomplishments were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren whom she adored unconditionally. Margie took immense pride in being a wife, homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She spoiled all her grandchildren, ensuring they always felt loved and cherished. Margie lived her life with a selfless determination to give; she would always put herself last so that others could enjoy the little things in life. Her children's well-being and her pets, especially her beloved dog Tootsie, were of utmost importance to her.

In her leisure time, Margie loved to cook Italian food for her family, indulge in the excitement of casinos, and engage in lively card games with friends at home. The outdoors called to her, and she relished camping as well as celebrating holidays surrounded by loved ones. Her unwavering loyalty to the LA Dodgers was a testament to her passion for sports, often sharing these moments with her son, Michael.

As a lover of music, she had an affinity for The Oldies, relishing in songs by Diana Ross and the Supremes, Dolly Parton, Tom Jones, Freddy Fender, and cherished Italian melodies like Ava Maria. Her favorite movie, Mrs. Doubtfire, encapsulated her humorous yet nurturing spirit.

Margie’s remarkable journey reached its conclusion, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her surviving family: Laine and Millie, her adoptive daughters; Leticia, her daughter-in-law; Lonnie, Gary, her sons-in-law; Joey, Frannie, Robby II, Amy, Bobby, and Mikey Jr., her beloved grandchildren; and Prestin, Emmie, Sarah, Nancy, Ariel, and Angelo, her great-grandchildren. Also remembering her fondly are nieces Maria and Shirley Ann, nephews Joseph, Frankie, Billie, and Joey.

Margaret is reunited in eternal rest with her beloved husband Zearl (Mike), as well as her cherished children Michael, Nancy, and David, and her grandson Arthur, among other family members who have preceded her.

Margaret Nancy Hathaway will be honored with a visitation on September 27, 2024, at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Tucson, Arizona, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a mass until 1:00 PM. A graveside service will then take place at South Lawn Cemetery at 1:30 PM. Margie will be buried beside her late husband, Zearl Mike Kulish, ensuring they remain together for eternity.

As we gather to celebrate her life, we remember a woman who exemplified love, laughter, and resilience. Margaret’s spirit may have left this world, but the vibrant memories of her life will forever resonate in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
