Maire Agnes Lewis of Anthem passed away at home on January 3, 2011 with members of her family at her side. Maire was born in County Kerry, Ireland on May 23, 1928 to John and Hannah O’Connor, along with 5 brothers and 3 sisters. She immigrated to Boston, Mass. in 1947. She worked in the dressmaking field there and then moved to Los Angeles, CA. in 1955. She worked for U.S. Borax Corp .before marrying James Lewis in 1961 and they had 4 children, Kenneth Lewis, Maureen (Alonzo), Irene (McCormick) and Erin (Guest). They lived in So. Ca. until 1972 when James was transferred to Scottsdale, AZ. They returned to So. Ca. in 1977 to Thousand Oaks and Irvine, then moved to Arizona in 2003 for business and family reasons. Maire was very enterprising and started the Sqweeky Klean House Cleaning Co. in 1987 which she operated until moving to Anthem in 2003. Maire was very witty and made many long time friends. One friend said, “once you meet Maire you never forget her”. Maire is survived by her husband of 49 years, James, her children and 6 grandchildren. Her rosary was at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center on January 7th and her “Celebration of Life Mass” will be at St. Rose Philippine Duchesne Catholic Church in Anthem, 10:30 am on January 13, 2011. Interment will be at San Fernando Mission Cemetery in Mission Hills, Ca.
