Mae Toldrian Becker - a loving wife and mother, died March 19, 2014 at age 77 in Peoria, Arizona, after a seven month battle with brain cancer, and is now safe in the arms of Jesus. She was born November 4, 1936 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Clarence and Mildred Toldrian. Mae graduated from Rufus King High School in June 1954 and the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee in June 1958. She met Fred Becker in the spring of 1958 at a church singles function and they were married Dec. 22, 1960 in Sun City, Arizona. She and Fred moved to Spokane, Washington, where they raised their four children and were very involved in their lives. Mae worked at the Spokane County Health District for over twenty years and then retired to Sun City in April of 2000. She enjoyed her active retirement lifestyle and was part of many clubs including ceramics, accordion and aerobics. In addition, she would walk and swim frequently. She was always interested in meeting new people and learning about them as well as maintaining connections with existing friends. Mae is survived by her husband of 53 years, her sister Anne and brother Tom. She also leaves behind her children, Denise (married to Tim Pontius), Nina, Louise (married to Tim Regis) and Arthur (married to Pam); and grandchildren, Craig, Danny (married to Kim) and Maggie. One of Mae’s final wishes was that all her family and friends know how much she appreciated all the compassionate, loving care that she received during her illness. She also had some incredible people caring for her at the hospitals and care centers where she spent her final months. A celebration of Mae’s life is planned for Sunday, April 6, 3:00-6:00 p.m. at 10901 W. Amber Trail in Sun City. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to Hospice of the Valley.
