Lowell Lloyd Galey March 12, 1934 - November 26, 2008
It is with great sadness that we let you know about Lowell's death. He passed away peacefully and suddenly. Thank-you to all the Friends and Family for the years of friendship and loving support. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Preceding him in death was his son, Steven Galey, and he leaves behind his daughter Carol Nicol, son-in-law Robert Nicol, and grandsons Christopher and Jacob Nicol; son John Galey and grandson Shay Galey; son David Galey, daughter-in-law Jennifer Galey, and granddaughter Caitlin Galey. Lowell also leaves behind five loving brothers and sisters; Lila Rae Pepper, Louise Cohoon, Charles Galey, Linda Innman and Stan Galey.
Born in Martinsville, IL March 12, 1934, Lowell graduated from Indiana State University. He honorably served in two military branchesthe United States Navy and the United States Air Force, retiring as a Major. Following his military career, Lowell enjoyed work as a substitute teacher who was well-respected and admired by his students and faculty. In retirement, he filled his time being an avid volunteer committing numerous hours to the Salvation Army and was recently involved with the American Cancer Society. He especially enjoyed helping friends, serving his church, and spoiling his grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5-7p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008 with funeral services at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008 at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center, 12420 North 103rd Avenue, Sun City, AZ. Immediately following, a service will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Lowell's life will be held 2pm at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center, 12420 North 103rd Avenue, Sun City, AZ. All are welcome.
