Louise Douglas

Louise passed away July 8, 2014 after a series of sicknesses and surgeries over the last 40 years. She was born in Hummelstown PA, May 25, 1930 to Russel and Louise Hummel Whisler. Both Mother and Daughter were both decendants of Frederick Hummel, the founder of the town. Louise attended local school until 1945 when her family moved to Hershey PA. She graduated from Hershey High School in 1948. That summer she was a tour guide at the Hershey Chocolate factory when she met the love of her life, Tait. Louise then attended Temple University School of nursing in Philadelphia PA, graduating in 1951. During that time she was awarded the outstanding student achievement at Jackson Clinic with work in Bronchoscopy. The marriage to Tait took place September 29, 1950. They had three children JoAnn, Gary and Scot. There are four grandchildren, Caleb (JoAnn), Lisa and Gary Jr (Gary) and Jennifer (Scot). In addition they have five great grandchildren. In 1966 the family moved to Winston Salem NC. Several years later Louise returned to school attending the Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital School for nurse anesthesia graduating in 1971. Louise was preceded in death by both of her parents and brothers Bob and Bert. She is survived by her brother Kenneth Whisler of Hershey PA and sister Jacklyn Kurfees of Edgewater MD. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2014, 1:30 pm at the Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall Bridlewood at 8516 West Mountain View Rd., Peoria AZ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be forwarded to a Kingdom Hall of your choice.
