Lewis Marshall Belden

On December 26, 2016, Lewis "Lew" Marshall Belden, a true hero of "America's Greatest Generation" left this earth to join his wife of 73 years, Rozina, for unlimited travels. Lew was born on November 17, 1917, and celebrated his 99th birthday recently. He leaves behind, his daughters, Marcia and Janet, their husbands, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was a man that was dedicated to his country, his family, and his faith. "Lew" was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas, where he graduated from Wichita State University with a BA in Psychology. He received his US Army commission after graduation, and served 39 months in the South Pacific during WWll. He was awarded the Bronze star, and retired from the Army in 1960, as a Major. After moving to Washington, Lew had a career at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Bremerton, Washington, as head of the Safety Division. During this time, he built a beautiful home for his family, overlooking Sinclair Inlet. This task took him nearly 5 years to complete, but it was worth the wait! Lew and Rozina spent many wonderful years boating in the waters of Puget Sound, the San Juan Islands, and into Canada. When they moved to Arizona, they enjoyed travels in their motorhomes, for over 30 wonderful years. Lew never tired of drawing, writing poems and articles, which have been published in numerous newspapers and safety magazines, and never lost his wonderful sense of humor. His artistic talents for painting and cartooning have brought delight to family and friends for many years; those clever drawings will be greatly missed by all. A family farewell is planned at a later date. We cherish the wonderful memories of a life that was well lived.
