Lewis Coulter

Lewis James Coulter passed away on February 24, 2019 in Sun City, AZ at the age of 95. Lewis was born on February 14, 1924 in Schenectady, NY. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ella Elizabeth Whittaker Coulter and their three daughters, Linda Elizabeth Coulter Schook (husband Roy), Maureen (husband Mike), and Jane (husband Don). Lewis has five grandchildren, April Schook Wright, Eric Schook (wife Diana), Nicole, Joshua, Ryan, as well as six great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. We ALL miss him dearly! Beyond loving his family, he loved sports; baseball, basketball, stock car races, bowling, and fishing. He was an avid Phoenix Suns fan, loved playing poker with the family as well as watching western movies. We are certain he will continue to do all of these things in heaven. Lewis was a WWII Navy veteran with the rating of Torpedoman’s mate 3rd class. His tour of duty was from 1943 to 1946. Services will be held on March 6, 2019 at Menke Funeral Home at 12420 N 103rd Ave, Sun City AZ. The viewing is at 10 am with a service to follow at 11 am. Lewis will then be taken to the St. Francis Cemetery at 2033 N 48th St., Phoenix AZ, where he will be placed in a mausoleum (there will be no service). For those interested, we will be gathering at Garcia’s Mexican Food restaurant at 4601 E. Thomas Rd., Phoenix, AZ after leaving the cemetery for a nice meal and to share memories.
