Leandra A. Abeyta of Glendale, Arizona January 9th will forever be marked with sadness for the Abeyta family who lost a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and role model on that day. Born in Tucumcari, New Mexico, Leandra Antonia Abeyta (nee Lopez), came from humble beginnings. There she met the love of her life, Vicente Roberto Abeyta, whom she married after a short courtship. The love they felt for each other in those early years never waned and after more than 60 years of matrimony they have fulfilled their vows proving that it truly was only death that could make them part. Leandra’s life was one of a homemaker and true supporter to and for her family. She was strong, courageous and intuitively wise. She leaves her family a legacy of love, play, communication, boundaries, faith, and straightforwardness with grace and kindness. Additionally, she has bestowed upon each the gifts of self assurance, self reliance, individuality, a strong moral compass, humor and above all strength. It is with this last gift that the family will move forward; never forgetting the woman who made such a strong impact on those around her. Leandra now goes ahead to be greeted by her son, Steven Abeyta and her parents, Benigno and Claudia (nee Chavez) Lopez. She is survived by her husband, Vicente Abeyta; her children, Evelyn Abeyta, Rosanne Brown (Jeff), Benny Abeyta, and Patricia Abeyta; her grandchildren, Aaron Brown and Faith Brown; her great grandchildren, Vincent Abeyta and Elayna Brown; as well as extended family and countless lifetime friends.
