Larry Spaulding

Larry Allyn Spaulding passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on March 2, 2010 after losing a courageous battle with stomach and esophageal cancer. Jill his loving wife and companion of 19 years, his sons and their partners Shane & Carol, Shannon, Shaun & Patsy were all by his side. Larry was a good friend and neighbor who loved his wife, his family and his country. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years and had a strong sense of patriotism. Larry continued to serve his country by protecting his home for 21 yrs as a Sergeant in the Glendale Police Department from 1961-1982. Not ready to retire he went on to work for another l0yrs as an investigator for The Registrar of Contractors for the State of Arizona. Once retired Larry divided his free time between his two passions; traveling the world with Jill, the love of his life, and gardening. Larry never met a plant he didn't like or couldn't bring back to life and was fondly named Mr. Green Jeans by all who knew and loved him. Larry is survived by his wife Jill, his 4 sons Shane, Shannon, Shaun his Stepdaughter Stephanie Thompson, 2 Granddaughters, 3 Great Granddaughters, 2 step Grandchildren and his extended family Marcel & Sara Villar of Costa Rica. Larry will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center Chapel, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City, AZ. Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014.
