Kenneth V. Couch was born January 22, 1936 in Tennessee to Celia and Clyde Couch. He moved to Arizona in 1967 where he served and retired from the U.S. Air Force. Not one to slow down, he then embarked on his second career as a prison guard at Perryville prison in Goodyear. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Clyde and Leon Couch, a sister Kay (Couch) Rumpel, and the love of his life, Rosemary Couch. He is survived by his sisters Mary “Alene” Johnson, Alice Thompson and Janice Keith; his children Mary Ann (Jim Barrett) Johnson, Shirley (Bob) Swadley, Bill (Colleen) Elliott, and John (Lonnie) Elliott; Grandchildren Rick (Grace) Baxla, Dave Baxla, David (Rinda) Lassiter, Tami (Eddie) Creegan, Jeremy (Katrin) Brand, Jon Brand, Billy (Randi) Elliott, Michael Elliott, Michelle Elliott, Jonathan (Serena) Elliott; and 22 great-grandchildren. Kenneth was caring and generous. He was fiercely protective and had the kindest soul. He was generally quiet, but if you could get a laugh out of him it brightened your day. He was young at heart, extremely intelligent, and often enjoyed bucking the system. He loved spending time with his grandkids and was the best Grandpa on the planet. Kenneth passed away in Youngtown on April 22, 2018. He will be gravely missed. Services were held on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center. He was laid to rest with full military honors was at Holy Cross Cemetery, 9925 W. Thomas Rd., Avondale AZ 85392.
