Loving Memories of Keith L. Mund Keith Lowell Mund was born on September 9, 1951 in Moorhead, Minnesota and joined his Heavenly Father on April 18, 2016, in Sun City, Arizona. He is survived by his wife, Donna Jensen Mund (Surprise, AZ) and his children, Heather Mund (Los Angeles, CA), Arren & Tonya Mund (Ames, IA), Andy & Kelli Jensen (Litchfield Park, AZ), Kristine Jensen (Hemet, CA), and Pete and Trisha Jensen Werner (Los Alamos, NM). He adored his grandchildren and is survived by Adeline Mund, Everett Mund, Jake Werner, Alex Jensen, Katie Werner, and Zachary Jensen. Family members, whether immediate or extended family, were a very important part of his life. He is survived by his siblings, Conrad & Karen (Mund) Davidson, Wayne & Karla (Mund) Nelson, Ken & Rhonda Mund, Walt & Diana (Horton) Smith, and Dave Horton along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other family members. Keith is the son of the late Roland Mund and Gertrude Irene Krapu, and brother to the late Kay Mund Kelley. Keith loved music and was a talented vocalist, guitarist, and tuba player. He always said that his love of tuba playing was hard to explain. Some people divide tuba players in two groups, those that are placed there and those who chose to be there. Keith chose this instrument. His first solo was "His Majesty the Tuba" as an 8th grade student--in an assembly in front of the entire student body. He often shared that he was never sure why he did this, but so began his career with the tuba. He has shared his skills with many organizations in his lifetime including being a Member of North Dakota Tri-State Band, North Dakota All-State Band, North Dakota All-State Orchestra, principal tubist with the Dickinson State University Wind Ensemble and Brass Quintet, auditioned and became the tubist with the Wolftrap Academy for the Performing Arts Orchestra, original tubist with the Bismarck-Mandan Symphony, played with Holiday on Ice (Ice Capades), the Sioux City Symphonic Band, the Austin Symphonic Band, principal tubist with the Austin Civic Orchestra, the Mellow Sounds of Brass Quintet, sang with the Phoenix Chorale, and Tuba I with the Arizona Wind Ensemble. He performed many tuba solos including Ralph Vaughan Williams Allegro vivace, W.A. Mozart Concerto No. 2 for Horn, and Alec Wilder Suite No. 1 for Tuba and Piano (Effie Suite*). This suite includes "Effie Joins the Carnival", "Effie Takes a Dancing Lesson", "Effie Sings a Lullaby", "Effie Chases a Monkey", and "Effie Goes Folk Dancing"--(*just a footnote: Effie is an elephant.) Keith's life was filled with many things that were special to him. Deep down inside, his first love has always been building and inventing things. Computers were a highlight and constant source of enjoyment in his life. He loved his work in this field and also his opportunities to explore and be challenged in his free time. He has two patents in this field and has worked for Ashton Tate, Symantec--Peter Norton Group, Gateway, Dell, Intel, and is currently employed as a Software Engineer at Astronautics in Phoenix, Arizona. He loved to tell us that software engineering was his vehicle that allowed him to both build products and get paid. The latter always came in handy when buying tubas, of which he owns four. In addition to his musical activities, his hobbies included bike riding, canoeing, fishing and he was a master craftsman. Keith would take on any challenge and if he didn't know how to do something, he would figure out a way to do it. He loved taking on something old and recreating it to something new and beautiful. He especially liked the challenges that Donna would present him with creating items for the young children in her schools or her musical programs. One of our fondest memories is when Keith performed the role of Noah in the children's musical titled "Rainbow Express." Keith was especially loved for his sense of humor which he took with him everywhere he journeyed. We have each been touched by his jokes, humorous stories, or silly statements in life which have lightened our days. We ask that you please honor him here and pass on his legacy to others by sharing an act of kindness, a humorous story, or a simple thought that created a special memory for you. Keith's "Service of Fondest Memories" will be held at the Menke Funeral & Cremation Center, 12420 N. 103rd Avenue, Sun City, AZ, on Saturday, June 25, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. Immediately following, we will join together for a "Celebration of His Life" party, an event that Keith helped to plan for his loved ones. Because of his love for the arts and children, memorial donations can be sent to Chase Bank (referencing Donna Mund account #99) or directly to Donna to be dispersed in his memory to the many organizations that he held dear to his heart.
