Kathleen Schrader Talbott

December 31, 1969 — October 12, 2012

was born in Croyle Twnsp., Pa, 10-16-28, to Frank and Mildred Schrader. She was the third of six children. She is predeceased by siblings Buster and Lois and survived by Barbara, Betty, and Charles, all of Pa. She was especially close to her maternal grandparents, Edna and Emmet Gallagher. After high school, she attended nursing school with the Sisters of Mercy, Mercy Hospital, Johnstown, Pa. And graduated in 1949. She worked for a couple of years, before joining the USAF as 1st Lt. She was stationed in Las Vegas, NV from 1952-54. While there, she and her lifelong friend Marion, met their future husbands at the "O" club. In 1955, she married Capt. William L. Talbott, Jr. They living in Arizona and Germany and then transferred to Amarillo, TX. Bill died suddenly and left Kathy with 3 kids to raise. She returned to nursing and eventually went into nursing education. She earned a Master's in Nursing and an E,ed. In Education. She worked for NW TX Hosp. School of Nursing, WTSU (A&M) and U of TX, Brownsville. She helped educate a whole generation of TX nurses. When she retired from teaching, she returned to Amarillo, and went to work in psychiatric nursing, until she retired for good at age 75. She then moved to AZ, with her daughter, with whom she lived until her death on 10-10-12. She is survived by her 3 children , Kit Talbott, Anne (Charlie) Snare, and Tom (Catherine)Talbott. She is also survived by her sister-in -law, Carolyn. She will be laid to rest next to Bill and their infant daughter, Ellen, at Ft. Logan Nat'l Cem., Denver, Co. with military honors, as was her wish. A memorial service is planned later at Heritage Presbyterian Church, Glendale, AZ. She was an extraordinary woman, active, very strong, compassionate, quirky, spunky, and generally unforgettable. The family would like to thank the staff at Emeritus Memory Care, Arrowhead Hospital, and Season's Hospice for their good and loving care of Morn.
