JoLetta Joyce Hall, affectionately known as Jody, left this world on April 2, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on October 24, 1934, in Fairbury, Jody was a beacon of love and joy, whose presence graced the lives of many. She graduated from Fairbury High School in 1952 and went on to enjoy a fulfilling career at Sperry, where she dedicated many years before retiring.
Jody's life was a tapestry woven with cherished memories and shared experiences. She had a witty sense of humor that could light up any room and often brought laughter to family gatherings. She adored celebrating the holidays, pouring her heart into preparing large family meals that became the cornerstone of tradition. Family camping and fishing trips filled her life with adventure, where her well-known and beloved traditional camp hash became a highlight every summer.
Traveling was another passion of Jody's, and she shared many memorable journeys with her husband, John (Jack). They spent some time living in Austria, further enriching their lives with diverse experiences. The couple's bond lasted an incredible 64 years, demonstrating a steadfast love and commitment to one another that was an inspiration to all who knew them. Together, they even spent a couple of summers working in the scenic Yellowstone National Park.
Beyond her travels, Jody had a penchant for baking, renowned for her cookie creations which earned her numerous State Fair ribbons. These delectable treats were so beloved that they often vanished from her children’s lunchboxes, a testament to her talent and the joy she brought to others. Her love for collecting recipes began at a young age, and she cherished her collections of bears and, in her later years, piggies, treating them like her babies.
Jody was not just a devoted wife but a proud grandmother and great-grandmother, finding her greatest joy in her family. She adored her grandchildren: Tim, Tara, Tanna, Brittany, Emily, Brendan, Christopher, Caitria, Kennadie, and Rylie. She also treasured her great-grandchildren: Kaydnce, Kyler, Kyden, Ryanne, Luna, Nolan, Leo, Phoenix, Jax, Bentlee, Wyatt, and Waylon. Each one held a special place in her heart, and her legacy of love will continue through them.
Jody leaves behind her cherished family: Mark (Debi), Becky (Mark W), Lisa, Mike (Nancy), Pat (Dejah), and Amy, along with ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She is now reunited with her beloved husband Jack, as well as her parents, Joseph and Verna Dawson, and her sisters, Barbara and Lagreta.
A memorial service to celebrate Jody's life will be held on April 26, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center in Sun City, Arizona. The service will also be live streamed for those that are unable to attend. As we remember Jody, let us hold dear the laughter, love, and countless memories she gifted us all.
