John J Kelly Sr, 84, was born on September 4, 1927 in Ballyhaunis, Ireland. He is survived by brother Mick (Anne) Kelly; his children: John Kelly Jr, Kathleen Fox, Mary Eileen Kelly-Campos, Tom Kelly (Renee); grandchildren: Brendan Kelly, Niall (Stephanie), Brian and Delia Campos, Sean and Jennifer Kelly; former son-in-law, Francisco Campos; cousin Tom Monahan (Zulfyia) and son Adam; devoted long time companion, Terry De Young. Extended family in Illinois, Texas and Ireland. Predeceased by son Michael Kelly. In 1947 Jack moved to America and settled in Chicago, IL; in 1996 he moved to Sun City, AZ. Jack was employed for over 40 years at The University of Chicago as a maintenance engineer. Some of his proudest career memories were of working for Nobel prize physicist Enrico Fermi and having coffee with Albert Einstein. Jack was a member of Monsignor Irvin F Lampe Assembly 1673 Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree; the Society of St Vincent de Paul; Sts Joachim and Anne's Mens Club, Shamrock Club and Democratic Club. Jack was a charmer with his twinkling Irish eyes and impish grin. He knew no strangers, he loved to talk; he was an avid shutter bug. So many photos to capture those precious moments! He will be dearly missed by many. On Friday, September 16, a visitation will be held from 5-7 PM with the rosary at 7 PM at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center, 12420 N 103rd Ave, Sun City. A celebration of Jack's life will be held on Saturday, September 17th at 10 AM at Sts Joachim and Anne Catholic Church, 11625 N 111th Ave, Sun City. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Society of St Vincent de Paul or Hospice of the Valley, will be appreciated.
