John DiVerde

John H. DiVerde, 93, of Peoria, Arizona passed away April 1, 2016. He was born in New Castle, PA to Salvatore and Mary C. DiVerde. He was raised in Maywood, IL, graduated from Proviso East High School class of 1940 and attended IIT in Chicago. John served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII. John and Doreen were married in 1944 and after the war they moved to Bellwood, IL and then Schaumburg, IL to raise their family. He worked as a Structural Steel Draftsman in Illinois, retiring to Sun City in 1994. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Lisa Hill, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. John is survived by his wife of 72 years, Mary Doreen (Crowder) DiVerde of Peoria, AZ. Children: Susan Engels (Robert), Kathleen Depukat (Edwin), John Jr (Kristie), Jane Cosentino (Frank), Charles (Janet), Annette Clarke (Christopher), James Sr. (Judy Krupica), Therese, Lisa’s husband Bryan Hill, Marcia (Christopher Sharrer), Michael (Monica) and David (Kay); two brothers Frank and Andrew DiVerde; 30 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 23, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 9728 W. Palmeras Dr., Sun City, AZ. Burial will take place at a later date in Illinois.
