Joan Morgan

December 31, 1969 — February 10, 2017

Joan A Morgan, 83, has been living in Sun City West for the past 17 years with her husband and soulmate Richard Morgan Sr. She passed away February 6, 2017 at Banner Hospice after a brief illness. Happily married for 52 years, they have been the model of a beautiful marriage to everyone they encountered. Born in Buffalo, NY she was the youngest of three children of Helen and Michael Mellon. An executive secretary at Cornell Aeronautical Laboratory (now Calspan) in Buffalo, she left her career to stay home and raise her three children Kathleen J (Paul) Wilkes of Glendale, AZ, Richard (Jennifer) Morgan Jr. of Bellingham, WA and Michael J (Kate) Morgan of Sherwood, OR. She was also the founder of the family business Morgan Associates. An adoring grandmother to six, and step grandma to two, she delighted in the time she spent with her dear grandkids and great-grandkids of which she has seven. Always ready to play, sing, and party with the little ones as well as her vast cadre of friends, she had a way of being in the world that invited love, laughter and connection. Every person she encountered got her full attention and respect. Joan packed each day with as much life, love, and laughter as she could. She was a devout catholic and a member of Saint Clement of Rome in Sun City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Food For The Poor, 6401 Lyons Rd., Coconut Creek, FL 33073, tel: (800) 427-9104 (EIN: 59-2174510) the American Macular Degeneration Foundation PO Box 515, Northampton, MA 01061-0515 or a charity of your choice. A celebration of life will be held in Portland Oregon May 6, 2017.
