PHOENIX - Joan M. Berg, died June 11, 2018 in Phoenix, AZ at the age of 86. Matriarch, wife, beloved and dedicated mother, grandmother (three grandsons) and great grandmother (two great grandsons). Jo was born and raised in Iowa by her immigrated Danish parents. She married young, moved to California in 1951, raised her family (two sons) while attaining excellent careers as a Bank of America supervisor and then as an Administrative Assistant to the Rush Research Foundation. For several years Jo owned and operated the Ranch Club Inn in Palm Springs California, where she met Don (one daughter, two sons) the love of her life for 46 years. Jo and Don were married in 1971 in Seattle Washington. They moved to Sun City Arizona in 1985. Jo became a state licensed Realtor Broker, specializing in the Sun City and west valley retirement market. Admired and respected for her work ethic and warmth, she devoted her 20 plus year realty career to helping people and achieving the highest professional standards. Jo and Don loved to travel and when time permitted visited Venezuela, Denmark, Norway, England, Egypt, Israel, Alaskan cruise and a month long cruise of the South Pacific and Australia. Jo was a committed Christian and since 1985 had participated as Usher, Moderator, Deacon and loved attending weekly Prayer Groups as a format to helping others. She had a special talent for making friends and giving her all to others. The lives of her family, friends and everyone she met were touched by her generosity, warm heart and wonderful sense of humor. She cherished her dogs and was a lifetime donor to the Humane Society. A Memorial Announcement was made at the United Church of Sun City on June 17th, as per the wishes of Jo. There will be no Memorial Service.
