JL WHITE, 89, passed away to be with his Lord and Savior, Sunday March 5, 2017 at the Gardens of Sun City AZ. Born November 23, 1927 in Rocky Oklahoma to Jesse and Ila White. He served his country in the United States Army, 91st Chemical Mortar Battalion. After an honorable discharge from the service, he relocated to Glendale Arizona where he joined the Glendale Police Department. He again served his community and department for 32 years. He rose through the ranks from Patrolman, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, and Administrative Captain (second in command). He was one of the first officers from GPD selected to attend the 91st session of the FBI Academy in Quantico Va. After retiring from Glendale Police Department, he was elected Justice of the Peace for Glendale Justice Court where he was re-elected to three terms in office. He was the first charter president of the Kachina Rotary Club of Glendale and served on the board of directors of the Glendale Salvation Army. He was also a Deacon at First Southern Baptist Church of Glendale. He was married to the love of his life Donna (Miller) White for 65 years. They both raised 5 children. JL is survived by his wife Donna, son Michael (Sheila) White, daughter Karen (David) Hess, daughter Pam (Jason) Holcomb, daughter Kim (Bill) McTee and brother Larry (Carolyn) White of Texas. Six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. JL also had many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is proceeded in death by his parents Jesse and Ila, sisters Dortha and Ricky, and son Steven. Visitation and funeral are scheduled for Friday March 10, 2017. Visitation at 9:30 am and funeral services at 10:30 am at First Southern Baptist Church at Sahuaro Ranch 10250 N. 59 Ave. Glendale AZ. Interment will follow at Glendale Memorial Cemetery 7844 N. 61 Ave. Glendale AZ. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations be made to the 100 Club of Arizona which support families of fallen police officers and firefighters.
