Jeffrey (Jeffey, Tio Jeffey, Jefe) Scott Rivard, 50, passed away suddenly on Sunday, January 12, 2025, in Peoria, Arizona.
Jeffrey was born in Royal Oak, Michigan on September 8, 1974. He was the youngest of four children born to Peggy Ann McQuillan, and the only son of Robert (Bob) Rivard. Soon after his birth, his family moved to San Diego, California where he spent most of his life growing up and enjoying both baseball and football. Within a few months of graduating from Mission Bay High School in San Diego, California (1993), Jeffrey enlisted in the USMC at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, California where he became a spiritual inspiration to his fellow soldiers during boot camp, and a veteran of the Gulf War Era.
In 2007, after several years of a wonderful courtship, Jeffrey married his best friend, Glory (Agana) Rivard. The beautiful ceremony was held on the beach in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and his proud family was present to witness this exciting and life-changing event. Four years later in July of 2011, Jeffrey and Glory welcomed the light of both their lives; daughter, Kayla Sophia Rivard. Anyone who knew Jeffrey and spent a mere few moments with him quickly admired his deep devotion to his wife and daughter. They were his world.
One of the greatest sorrows of Jeffrey’s life was that his mother, who preceded him in death in 2006, did not get to attend his wedding, or the birth of his daughter. Unfortunately, Jeffrey was also preceded in death by his nephew, Ryan Anthony Farley (2019), and his father (2008).
In February of 2019, Jeffrey, Glory, and Kayla moved to Peoria, Arizona where they bought their first home together. Typical of Jeffrey, he quickly reconnected with longtime friends and made new friends who affectionately nicknamed him, “Jefe”.
Jeffrey is survived by his loving wife, and daughter, Glory and Kayla Rivard; sisters and brothers-in-law, Laura and Jeff Belveal and Sheryl and Donato Garcia; brother, Randy Boyl; step-sister, Tina Lewis; aunt, Roberta Spoon; cousins, Kelly and Kristin Spoon and Vanessa Hansen; his treasured nephews and nieces, Christian Peacore, Jena, DJ, and Taylor Garcia; and many other extended family members as well. Jeffrey also enjoyed a warm relationship with Glory’s family and spent many vacation adventures with his in-laws, Reinita and Mark Bipes (Glory’s parents), Daniel and Ivy Agana (Glory’s brother and sister-in-law), and Mael and Michael Agana (Glory’s nephews).
Beside his deep devotion to his family, Jeffrey had a passion for spiritual issues, nature, his country, Israel, politics, good food, veterans, his pets, and those that were suffering. He developed a large on-line family who received tremendous emotional support from his encouragement. He was the best friend of many who benefited from his tender wisdom, and mischievous sense of humor.
Our hearts are broken.
