James Starr

James (Jim) Vincent Starr passed away January 18th, 2019, in Gilbert, Arizona. He was born in Creston, Iowa, May 20th, 1920. Serving in the US Navy from July 7th, 1938, to February 28th, 1946. He remained in the Navy Reserves and taught at Fort Omaha for 32 more years in Omaha, Nebraska. He is a Pearl Harbor Survivor. He lived in Council Bluffs, Iowa, until retiring from Omaha Standard Truck & Body then moved to Sun City, Arizona. His first wife, Betty Jane, sons Stephen James and William Alan, and second wife Eleanor preceded him in death. He is survived by daughter Linda Craig, Chandler, Arizona, step- daughter Shirley Steiger, Peoria, Arizona, stepson Russell Steiger, York, Nebraska. Granddaughter, Tamara (Jay) Messerole, Chandler, Arizona, grandson Troy (Jackie) Wilson, Gretna, Nebraska. Four great -grandchildren. Kendall and Keaton Messerole, Chandler, Arizona, Tyler Wilson, Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Mikayla Wilson, Omaha, Nebraska. Funeral Services will be January 30th, with Private viewing at 12:00 PM at Menke Funeral Home in Sun City, Arizona, and Military Graveside services at Resthaven Park Cemetery in Glendale, Arizona, at 2:00 PM.
