James Parsley

July 7, 1934 — August 25, 2019

James C Parsley (Jim), but most folks called him Raymond. July 7, 1934-August 25, 2019 Raymond was a dedicated husband to his wife Rosa for 60 years, a great Dad and wonderful Papaw. He was very laid back and one of the nicest guys on the planet. Born in Pilgrim, Kentucky, he spent most of his childhood in Kopperston, WV. He served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1959 and retired from the Army National Guard in 1996. He was a graduate of Oceana High School in Oceana, WV and a tool and die maker retired from ABB Corporation in Columbus, Ohio in 1996. They moved to El Mirage, AZ in 2002. He was preceded in death by his parents, George W Parsley and Fannie (Moore) Parsley, sisters Tennessee Duncan, Irene Duncan, Dixie Tilley Brown, Avonelle Snively, and Betty Jo Daugherty as well as his younger brother Leonard and nephew Robert (Bobby) Tilley. He is survived by his wife, Rosa (Laxton) Parsley, son, Russell (Bonnie) Parsley and daughter, Gina (Devon) Miller, grandchildren Holli Parsley, Stephani (Eric) Smith, Chris Corsi, and Dan (DJ) Corsi and 4 great grandchildren, Elisabeth Smith, Brodi Sambo, Richard Smith, and Madilyn Becerra. Survived by sisters Ruby Eary, Annabelle (Ken) Sloop and Billie Jean Armstrong. He is also survived by 27 nieces and nephews. He was an excellent bowler and an avid fisherman. He was a member of First Country Baptist Church in Surprise, AZ. He will be missed terribly by so many, but we can take comfort knowing he is no longer in pain. A memorial service will be held at First Country Baptist Church in Surprise, AZ, at 10 am on Saturday September 14, 2019. Cremains will be interred at Northlawn Memory Gardens in Westerville, Ohio at a later date.
