James P. Coffey

James (Jim) P. Coffey of Sun City, AZ passed away on Friday morning, January 28, 2011 of natural causes at the age of 92. James was 2nd generation Irish and the oldest of 5 children. He was born in Washington State, but spent most of his adult life in California. He graduated Loyola High School in Los Angeles and attended UCLA before serving in the Army-Air Force during WWII. Following his discharge he continued service to his country as an Air Force reservist. He began a long career in Western Union where he was fortunate to find the love of his life. Following his marriage to his wife Betty, they transferred to San Francisco where they both lived and worked together for over 30 years. They retired to Kentucky for 10 years. Upon the death of Betty’s mother they moved to Sun City, AZ where they spent the last 22 years side by side as husband and wife and best friends. Over the past 9 decades Jim touched many lives and made many friends, and he will be missed. He is survived by his wife Betty. A funeral mass will be held at at a later date.
