Jim Kenneth Lee, affectionately known as "The Man, the Myth, The Legend," left us on October 24, 2024, at his home in Sun City, Arizona. Born on May 26, 1935, in Laurel, Mississippi, Jim lived a life filled with adventure, devotion, and laughter.
For over fifty years, Jim dedicated himself to his trucking business, where he earned his livelihood hauling copper, produce, and firewood. His passion for his work was evident from a young age when he would haul groceries in his little red wagon, driven by the desire to help his family. Throughout his career, he accumulated countless stories from the road that still bring smiles today—tales of hitting a cow and the unsuspecting hawk that flew into his windshield are just a few of the moments he shared with those who gathered around to hear them.
Jim served honorably in the United States Navy from December 1953 to December 1958, spending time aboard the USS Kermit Roosevelt. His dedication to family and his country was a source of pride, as was his quiet sense of humor—traits that endeared him to those who knew him best. He cherished the simple joys of life, whether indulging in breakfast as a self-proclaimed foodie, watching football, or attending baseball games while traveling with his beloved wife, Glenda.
Jim treasured his family deeply. He is survived by his daughter Lisa, son Kenny, five grandchildren—Dustin, Ciaralou, Jacob, Travis, and Becca—and four great-grandchildren. The legacy of love and commitment he built is echoed in every one of them. He is also survived by his sister, Donna Johnson, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends whose lives he touched.
As we remember Jim, we also hold close the memory of his wonderful wife, Glenda, who stood by his side for 60 years, as well as his brother Frank, sister Pat, and parents Henry and Jewel Lee—all of whom he has rejoined in peaceful rest.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 6, 2024, at Grace Bible Church in Sun City, AZ, starting at 11:00 AM, followed by a graveside service at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona at 1:30 PM.
Jim Kenneth Lee may no longer walk among us, but his stories, love, and laughter will resonate in our hearts forever. He showed us what it meant to provide for family with unwavering dedication and to find joy in the little things. He leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire those he loved.
