James (Jim) T. Grant, or “Terry” to his school and family, 87, a resident of Glendale Arizona, passed away on June 27th, 2024, after losing his life to cancer. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Louise Grant and his two children, Daniel Grant and Julie Coll. Jim has five grandchildren, Casey Hill, Kristen and Ryan Rounsaville, Robbie and Nathan Grant and two great granddaughters, Sage and Salem Pike.
Jim was born to Evelyn and Patrick Grant in Medford, Oregon. After high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force. He served as a Rotary Mechanic, and served the country for four years of active service which included a stint in the Marshall Islands working as a helicoptor mechanic followed by four years in the reserves. In 1961, Jim joined the Arizona Highway Patrol (AHP) as a patrolman, and later the AHP became the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS). Thirty-two years later, after serving the DPS in multiple roles and positions, he finished his career as a sergeant and an area supervisor back out on the road.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Mountain Ridge Baptist Church located at 23104 N. 67th, Glendale, AZ, on August 15th, 2024, at 11 AM. Those who wish to attend are welcome. Internment will be at Veteran's Memorial Cemetary of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85024.
