Jack Whyman

age 90, died peacefully at his home in Arlington, Arizona, on November 30, 2012, surrounded by his family and loving companion Nancy Keim. A native of Arizona, he was born on January 7, 1922 in Phoenix to Richard and Lucy Tolleson Whyman and was the grandson of Walter G. Tolleson, founder of the town of Tolleson. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Helen H. Whyman and great-granddaughter Hannah Marie Turowski. Although he engaged in many business activities, he always thought of himself as a cattleman and rancher. He is survived by his five children, Susanne Straussner, Sandra Whyman, Jack Whyman, Jr., Richard Whyman, Lucy Whyman III, 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 8 great- great- grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hugs from Hannah to support children battling cancer. Donations can be sent in care of The Turowski Family, 804 W. Alex Avenue, Peoria, AZ 85382. Visitation will be held 3-6 p.m., Friday, Dec. 7, 2012 at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City, AZ. Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 at the Louis B. Hazelton Memorial Cemetery, 23100 W. Broadway Rd., Buckeye, Arizona. A celebration of Jack’s life will follow the services at the family home.
