Ilse Zirino

December 31, 1969 — April 12, 2018

Ilse Charlotte Zirino, of Sun City, AZ, passed away peacefully in her home, at Sun Valley Lodge, at the age of 93 on the evening on April 2nd, 2018. Ilse was born September 7, 1934, in Washington, District of Columbia of German immigrants, Erhard Karl Schicht and Anna Felgendreher Schicht. In 1938, she moved to Berlin, Germany, to be with her mother and sister until 1945. After the war, she took a U.S. Government job, translating, as she was fluent in both English and German. She eventually married an American soldier and moved to the United States. She lived in Central Illinois for a good portion of her life, where she was active in youth sports, an avid scuba diver and participated in competitive sports. Eventually she moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she worked for the Nation Biscuit Company (Nabisco), in the human resources department, until she retired years later. Ilse is preceded in death by her parents, her sister; Margarit Lisa Luan and her infant son, Erhard Felix Wibbeke. She is survived by her son, Bernie Quick and daughter-in-law, Jean Quick. Her grandchildren; Ryan Quick, Tyler Quick, Ashley McKinney Young, Abby McKinney Crimp and Emily McKinney Lopez. Her great grandchildren; Dylan Quick, Vivian Crimp, Leena Quick, Jenevieve Young, Elijah Crimp, Moira Quick and Adalyn Lopez. The Quick family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the employees and staff at Sun Valley Lodge and Hospice of the Valley for their caring and dedication. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of the Valley. The family will celebrate Ilse’s life in a private ceremony at a later date.
