Henry Pettit

December 31, 1969 — August 5, 2014

Henry Alexander Pettit, age 92, passed away of natural causes on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 in Boise, Idaho where he was visiting his daughter. She was by his side to the very end. Private services were held at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center in Sun City, Arizona. Henry resided in Peoria, Arizona. He was born September 24, 1921 to Carrie and Burnett Pettit of Baltimore, Maryland. Henry was the beloved and faithful husband to Helen Geiger Pettit who passed away on April 2, 2009. They had been married fifty-nine years and loved each other dearly. Henry was a retiree of the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company. Many of the men Henry worked with and supervised maintained contact with him to the day he died. He was highly respected and very well liked. There was never anything but kind words and praise said about Henry. Anyone who knew him thought the world of him and adored his kind heart. Henry leaves behind one daughter, Michelle, whom he always adored. He depended upon her in his later years for care and love. Both liked antiques and sharing their thoughts together on rare and exquisite pieces. In the years since Henry’s wife died he and his daughter became very close. Henry always said how lucky he was to have Michelle take care of him. The last years of Henry’s life were enhanced by the deep loving bond he formed with his daughter. They talked of the fun times they shared and made up for any precious moments that may have been lost in the years before. Michelle told Henry that some good had come out of her dear mother’s passing. Both felt blessed to have captured and treasured the opportunity to know one another more since Helen’s death. This time together was a true blessing to Henry and he thanked God daily for it. In his younger days Henry was a pilot and loved to fly. He had his own plane and kept it in pristine condition. He always enjoyed airplanes and was a member of the Commerative Air Force in Arlington, Texas. Henry was also a model train enthusiast and was a member of the Arizona Train Collectors Association, Desert Division. He always looked forward to attending regular meetings and discussing trains with his friends. Daddy, I wrote this for you. I miss you more than you will ever know. There is such a gigantic hole in my heart and soul now that will never go away. As I saw you leaving me that evening to go to Heaven I made certain to thank you for being my father and told you how much I loved you. I will always be proud to have you as my father and want the world to know. You gave me not only life but your unconditional love. No one can ever give me such wonderful love again. You always stood by me no matter what and were truly a one in a million father and role model. Knowing of all of your sacrifices and understanding has made me a better person. I will never be the fine person that you were. You are a tough act to follow. I will embrace all that you have taught me and think of what you would do when a situation arises that requires your wisdom. I asked you to please always stay with me spiritually. I hope you heard me my dear sweet daddy. I love you with all of my heart now for all of eternity. There will never, ever, be another you. Oh how I miss you and appreciate your love more each day. We will never lose our special unbreakable bond of love that exists between a father and daughter. Daddy, I love you.
