Helen Darby

83, of Glendale passed away on Nov. 10, 2012. She lost her battle with Parkinson's disease. Helen was born April 10, 1929 to Sam and Helen Joy in Phoenix. She grew up in the Glendale area and attended Glendale Union High School where she met and later married her high school sweetheart Wayne Darby. They were married for 65 years. Helen and Wayne settled in Glendale where they raised their 3 boys. Always ready for an adventure, Helen enjoyed exploring the great state of Arizona, camping, fishing, and hunting with friends and family. Helen was part of an Arizona pioneer farming family and helped run the family farm along side Wayne. Proceeded in death by her parents Sam and Helen Joy, survived by her husband Wayne, sons Robert (Peggy), Wayne, (Joanne), and Steve (Candy). Siblings Martha, Miriam, Sam, as well as 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center, 12420 N. 103rd Avenue, Sun City, Arizona at 1:00 PM on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012.
