Harriet Potter

Harriet Rogert Potter, 93 of Sun City, AZ passed away on September 8, 2017. Harriet was born the fourth of five children of Herman and Emma Rogert on October 10, 1923 at the family farm in Herman Nebraska. She grew up in Herman and moved to Omaha to attend secretarial school, where she met her husband, Donald, a career army officer. They had four children and she lived all over the country as an Army wife. She moved to Omaha, Nebraska in 1961 and worked as Credit Manager for All Makes Office Equipment for over 20 years. She retired to Sun City in 1991 and was very active playing golf, bridge and volunteering tirelessly at her church. When the Harry Potter series of books was published, no one ever forgot her name! She is predeceased by her parents, sisters Phyllis Rogert and Ada McGargill; brothers Arnold Rogert and Emmet Rogert; daughter Linda Spurrell; and son Eric Potter. She is survived by daughter Nancy Hempy of Sun City, son Donald (Mary) Potter of Everett Washington; son-in-law David Spurrell of Tacoma Washington; grandchildren John Spurrell, Michelle Hushman, Christine Grey, Sean (Tina) Hempy, Erica McDaniel, Jennifer Alford, Luke (Tia) Stillings, Alan Spurrell, and Lindsey Potter; 17 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held September 22nd at 11AM at Shepherd of the Desert Lutheran Church, 11025 N. 111th Ave, Sun City, AZ 85351 with a reception following. Family and friends are invited to join us in warm and joyful expressions, stories and prayers in memory of this extraordinary lady. The family requests memorials be made to Shepherd of the Desert Lutheran Church.
