Gladys Hortence Henderson Clancy peacefully passed away on December 21, 2011 at age 98. She was born on July 23, 1913 near Lutsville, Missouri to Pete and Lizzy McKelvy. She was the youngest of 10 children. Her family moved to Colorado in 1916 where they had a small farm. She moved with her parents to Arizona in 1927 and has lived here since. She married Ralph Henderson in 1932 and had three children, Joyce, George and Glen. She was widowed at age 40 and enrolled in business college to become an office manager. She later married Jim Clancy and worked for the museum association at Petrified Forest National Monument until 1970 when she and Jim retired. Gladys is survived by her three children Joyce Brooks, George Henderson (Barbara) and Glen Henderson (Carolyn), eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by Ralph Henderson, Jim Clancy, son-in-law Bruce Brooks, her parents and brothers and sisters. Gladys was well taken care of by her loving caregiver Beatriz Gonzalez. Gladys’ large and loving family will miss her dearly and are comforted knowing there are many happy reunions taking place in heaven. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 East Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014. Private graveside services have been held. Memorial services will be held on Friday, December 30, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church at Litchfield Park, 300 N. Old Litchfield Road, Litchfield Park, AZ.
