Geraldine McCreary

December 31, 1969 — February 23, 2016

Geraldine C. McCreary was born on May 26th, 1924 in Santa Mesa, Philippines to Benjamin and Parrish Carpenter, who preceded her in death. She married John D. McCreary, Sr. in the Philippines, where he was stationed in the U.S. Army. Geraldine never remarried after her husband passed away in 1987. As a child, Geraldine attended elementary and high schools in the Philippines, where she enjoyed playing baseball. She was an avid Oakland A’s baseball fan, and attended many games. After moving to the States, Geraldine worked in several different trades, but the las position she held was an electronic assembly technician. Her greatest achievement while she worked in this position was building and assembling the critical electronic components to operate the water gates for the California Canal Project. My Mother could be described as many things: loyal, a good friend, kind-hearted, and charitable. She was a consistent contributor to her church, as well at Peoria Good Shepherd Retirement Home. My Mother passed quietly in her sleep from congestive heart failure on February 11th, 2016, at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her parents (Benjamin and Parrish Carpenter and her three daughters (Deborah, Anna Marie, and Veronica). She is survived by her two sons, John and Anthony, as well as her sisters Elizabeth Wilson and Georgia Price. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center Chapel, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City, AZ.
