George Domasco

Friday, August 16, 2013, marks the death of a man who planned to live indefinitely.  George William Domasco died suddenly in Sun City, Arizona.  He was born “on the ranch” in Gallatin County Montana on September 20, 1922.  His parents were William Domasco and Margaret Sharp.  His role-model in life however was his grandpa George Sharp who taught a young George how to become the special human being he was.  He stayed on the ranch until entering high school in Bozeman, MT graduating in 1939.  He enlisted in the Army Air Corp in 1942, and served on a 10 man crew in a B-17 flying out of Italy.  In his later years he told stories of his war experiences some of which were pretty harrowing!!! He told some of these stories to a young high school student in 2012, which are published in the Veteran’s Heritage Project book, Since You Asked, VIII.  He married Doris Louise McLees on October 4, 1947.  They lived in Trident Montana at the time and he worked for the Trident Cement Co. Their daughter Georgia was born in 1950, while they lived in Trident.  Their next daughter, Valorie, was born in 1953, after they moved into Three Forks, MT. and in 1956, the family moved to Big Timber, MT.  Here George, Doris and their girls spent the next 24 years.  George worked for Standard Oil, traveling the county delivering fuel while starting his own business, Big Timber Electric.  In 1980, he and Doris moved to Phoenix, AZ., eventually settling in Sun City.  People acquainted with George, knew he never really retired.  He continued numerous work relationships all his life.  At his death, he was building and repairing computers for others in his garage as well as managing the computer network at his daughters’ counseling business and still fixing everyone’s “stuff”!  To say he will be missed hardly conveys the pain and heartache we all feel.  In his nearly 91 years, George filled all the roles there are for men in a family; husband to Doris for 65+ years, Father to Valorie and Georgia, father-in-law to Paul, John, and Mike. He was also a grandfather, and an amazing one at that, to Chelsea, Alissa, and Katie, as well as, Julie and John for the past few years.  He was grandfather-in-law to Nick and Keith, as well as, a great-grandfather to Hannah, Tyler, and Jake. He always held dear to him his sisters Marian, Harriet and Marget.  He was a special brother to them and uncle to their children. He was a brother-in-law to Eleanore, Earl, Don and Deannie McLees and a special uncle to many of their children.  He was also a friend to people from Trident, Three Forks, Bozeman, Big Timber, Montana, and Phoenix and Sun City, Arizona.  A good many of them are waiting for him on heaven’s golf course! 8 year old Hannah reports to you that he was “awesome”.  11 year old Jake said he was a “good guy and a military man”.  Tyler, who is 7, said he was the “best great-grandpa ever!” A memorial service will be held at 9 am on August 27 at the Menke Funeral & Cremation Center, 12420 N 103rd Ave., Sun City, AZ 85351.  Interment will follow at 10:30am at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N.
