George Albert Deneke of Sun City, Arizona passed at age 75 after a long battle with cancer. He joins his beloved mother, Helen in heaven. George was born to Earl and Helen (Beyer) Deneke at the Beyer Farm near Ramona SD. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church of Ramona and graduated from Ramona High School in 1959. He married Carol Bloom in 1959 and they raised three children. In 1980 he married Maxine Brouwer. In 1997 George and Maxine moved to Sun City, Arizona where they enjoyed the desert weather. In SD and MN George worked a variety of jobs including Triple F Feeds and McNess. In Sun City, he worked in construction for Mastec and later at the Sun Dial Rec Center until April when he retired. George was a faithful member of Orangewood CRC and West Valley Christian Fellowship. He was an avid sports fan of basketball, football and baseball. He took up golf later in life and also enjoyed bowling, wood working, reading, caring for flowers and plants and traveling to see family and friends. George was a loving husband, father and grandfather, a friend of many and will be deeply missed. George is survived by his wife Maxine, three children Craig (Leslie) Deneke of Waddell, AZ; Claudia (John) DeRungs of Ramona, SD; and Curtis Deneke, Galva, KS and two stepchildren, Cheryl (Dan) Garceau and Gwen (Bill) Rosenblum, six grandsons Christopher, Cody and Jeremy Deneke, Logan DeRungs, Eddie Garceau, Joshua Rosenblum, four granddaughters Olivia Garceau, Jenny, Jamie and Jessie Rosenblum, and four great granddaughters, his father Earl Deneke, brother Larry (Susan) Deneke and sister Sandra Klein (Alvin). A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday June 24, 2017 at West Valley Christian Fellowship, 12649 N.105th Ave., Sun City, AZ 85351. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Valley Food Bank, 12321 NW Grand Avenue, El Mirage, AZ 85335.
