Old phrases, cowboys, westerns, hunting, fishing, family, friends, firepits, flannel shirts and a big grin. We are of course talking about the storyteller himself, Frank D. Morrone. He lived a long life and will be remembered by those closest to him as one of the toughest men to ever live. He was dealt some pretty rough cards in life from losing his beautiful wife Ann far too soon in 1995, to battling many ailments affecting his mobility as he aged. Through it all, Frank always found a way to tell a story or a joke. He never held anything back. “Things could always be worse” was one of his trademark phrases.
Frank was born to Emil and Adeline Morrone in Blue Island, Illinois on April 23, 1940. He passed away peacefully in his home with family by his side in Sun City, Arizona on March 7, 2022 at the age of 81. Frank is preceded in death by his beloved wife Ann. He is survived by his 5 loving children Sandy Morrone, John (Marcy) Morrone, Frank (Jennifer) Morrone, Pete (Karen) Morrone and Mark Morrone; his six grandchildren Ann (Marc), Coby, Sarah, Rianna, Joey and Bella and his four great grandchildren Logan, Adalyn, Camryn and Elayna; and countless extended family members and friends.
The family will hold a private chapel service for Frank. Following that service, his daughter Sandy will be hosting an open house celebration of life in his honor. Please feel free to stop by Sandy’s home located at 5432 138th ST., Crestwood, IL 60418 on Saturday, March 19th from 1:00pm – 5:00pm. Frank would not want this to be dark and gloomy. He loved his flannel shirts. Grab your favorite flannel shirt or just dress comfortably in his honor. Food and drinks will be available along with many memories from Frank’s life on display. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to one of two causes: Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, as Frank battled the symptoms of MS himself or Wounded Warrior Project, as this was Frank’s favorite charity. If attending the open house, a donation table will be set up to make the process very easy and efficient.
Frank will be sorely missed. Please know that all five of his children, despite the pain of this loss, are rejoicing in the fact that after nearly 27 years apart, Frank and the love of his life, their mother Ann, are reunited in God’s kingdom.
