Francis Lagowski

LAGOWSKI, FRANCIS Frank ANTHONY Age 68, passed away April 5, 2009 after an extended illness. Born in Chicago, IL. on August 24th, 1940 to Frank and Mae Lagowski. He grew up in the Logan Square Neighborhood with his parents; younger brother Gerald Jerry; and Aunt Pauline. He attended Our Lady of Grace parochial grammar school and Gordon Tech High School. He joined the US Air Force in 1959 and while stationed at Seymour Johnson AFB, NC he met and married the love of his life Nell and had three children; Jeffery, Lisa, and Melissa. He served in the Vietnam War and was stationed in Thailand, Guam, Germany and many bases throughout the US during his Air Force career. In 1988 he was stationed at Luke AFB, AZ and in 1990 he decided to retire and reside in Peoria, AZ after 30 years of dedicated service to our country. Frank loved the Air Force and enjoyed being around his "military family" so he continued to work in the civilian service at Luke AFB, AZ. He retired after serving 10 yrs in the civilian service with his last position working for the 56th EMS Squadron. Frank loved to ski, scuba dive, and entertain his friends and family. He loved 1957 Ford convertibles, music and musical theatre. He especially loved to spend time with his granddaughter Erica watching "Phantom of the Opera" and taking her fishing. He was a devoted uncle and loved to spend time with his nieces and nephews. Frank was blessed with many wonderful friends, neighbors, and family supporting him as he fought against cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Nell Lagowski; son: Jeffery & wife Lynn; daughters: Lisa & Melissa; granddaughter: Erica; step granddaughters: Brandi step grandson: Sean; brother: Gerald Lagowski & wife Maureen; nephews: Paul & wife Laura; Craig & wife Melissa; great nieces: Devin, Annie, Madeline, and great nephew: Jackson. Viewing will be held on Monday April 13, 2009 from 4:00pm- 7:00pm at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center, 12420 N. 103rd Ave, Sun City, AZ 85351. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at 10:30 am at the Celebration Lutheran Church, 8726 W. Olive Ave. Peoria, AZ. 85345. Interment will be at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, Dixon CA. on April 16, 2009 at 12:30pm.
