Francis C. “Frank” Stack, 91, of Sun City, AZ passed away Oct. 9, 2015. He was born in Shelton, Nebraska. At the outset of WWII Mr. Stack joined the Army Air Corp serving on the bomber B24 liberator as a navigator. On one of his missions he was shot down over Germany and was held as a prisoner of war for 18 months until being liberated. Among other medals, he was given the Purple Heart. He continued to proudly serve in the United States Air Force, retiring as Sr. MSGT. After his military retirement he completed his education at Arizona State University and became a high school teacher. Upon retiring, he moved to Sun City with his wife, Ethel. He enjoyed his retirement as an avid golfer for many years. An Arizona resident since 1964, he was a member of St. Clement of Rome Parish in Sun City. He is survived by his wife Ethel A. Stack; children Kathay Ladrigan (Joe), Terry Saunders (Bob) and Sean Stack (Lynda); brother, Gerry Stack, 4 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, Oct. 19, 2015 at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church, 15800 N. Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, with interment at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona with full military honors.
