Dunham, Frances May 96, of Baptist Village in Youngtown, Arizona passed away on June 11, 2010. Peggy, as she was known by her friends, was born in Aurora, IL on January 28, 1914. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Adam H. Stombres, her youngest son, Glenn V. Stombres, and her second husband, Charles E. (Chuck) Dunham. She is survived by her sons Richard A. and Donald J. Stombres, and her daughter, Patty M. Babcock. She was very proud of the fact that she came from a family of 13 including her parents, Glenn and Bertha Jeffers (both deceased), and her siblings, Glenn Jr. (deceased), Margaret Hearn, Kay Miller (deceased), Maxine Gilmore, Barney (deceased), Billy (deceased), Donna (deceased), Marlene Wagner, Nancy Evans, and Bonnie Rokas. She will be remembered for her strong will and quick wit. She was a remarkable violin player in high school, and during the Great Depression, she worked in a dime store selling hats, making signs, and modeling clothes in the store window. During World II, she worked at Douglas Aircraft as a riveter on C-54 airplanes, and started her own part-time millinery business in the Chicago area. She moved to Arizona in 1947 to help her first husband deal with his arthritis. As a senior citizen, she finally pursued her heart’s desire of becoming an artist. Her oil paintings sold well in craft shows throughout Arizona. She was a good woman and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
