Florence Barski (nee Ceszynski)

April 7, 1929 — January 13, 2021

Florence Mae Barski (nee Ceszynski) Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on April 7th, 1929, and died on January 13th, 2021 at her home in Sun City Arizona. She joins her previously deceased husband Henry at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, in Cave Creek. Florence was the middle child, with Evelyn (1927) and Ronald (1936) providing the family book-ends. Her father, John, worked as a machinist, and Josephine was his doting wife. Florence, like most of the family, went to Bay View high school. She got a job as a switchboard operator with Ma Bell, where she met Henry, her future husband. She later worked at Gardetto’s Bakery for many years until her retirement. Henry retired from the Phone Company, and his love of golf led he and Florence to Sun City Arizona in 1995. They both enjoyed the warm, dry air (and lack of snow!), with Henry playing golf daily at one of the many courses there. Florence was a regular at the Sun City Recreational Centers, where she learned stained-glass making, enjoyed swimming and exercise, and other arts and crafts. She also enjoyed the annual summer visits for a week or two from her only grandchild Alex. She also loved her cats over many years: Midnight, Robespierre, Tara, and Daisy come to mind. They married April 24th, 1954, and had two children: Claudia (1955) and Camille (1956), who also went to Bay View along with two of their cousins, Kevin and Carla Ruppert. The children both attended MATC; Claudia for Commercial Art and Camille for Chemistry. Claudia married Peter Carian in 1984 and moved to the South Bay of Los Angeles, California, where he still works as an Aerospace Engineer. Claudia retired from commercial art, but still enjoys her art as well as her beautiful yard full of fruit trees, vegetables and flowers. Camille moved between Milwaukee and Sun City a few times, and eventually went to live with Florence after Henry’s death in 2005. In the year prior to Florence’s passing from cancer, Camille provided compassionate daily care with the help of the local home Hospice service.
