Florence M. Asselin, 83, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother died on Sep 12, 2008. Born in Detroit, MI, on Feb 25, 1925, she was united in marriage to Joseph J. Asselin on Aug 2, 1947. The Asselins moved to Arizona in 1960 where they settled in the little-known community of White Tanks. The girl from the big city quickly adapted to pioneering desert life, and grew to love its raw nature and climate. In addition to her activities for caring for her large family, she was an active parent in the 4-H Club. After working 20 years for the Avondale School District, she retired in 1986. Her final residence was in Sun City West. Florence always knew she was the recipient of one of God's richest blessings in life, that of family who cherished and loved her. Florence leaves her love to husband Joe and to her six children Joseph C., Eleanor David Jenkins, Patricia Haskell, Linda Ronald Jacobson, Susan Erickson, and Paul Starr Asselin. She was the proud grandmother of 16, the great-grandmother of 18 and is survived by her sisters-in-law Carol Bollin, Isabel Robert Novak, Marian Gust, and many loving nieces and nephews. Visitation is from 5-7 pm, Tues., Sept. 16th at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center, 12420 N. 103rd Ave. Sun City, AZ 85351, the rosary at 7. A 2 P.M. Funeral Mass is on Wed.
