Elizabeth Wiist Plylar

Elizabeth Ann Wiist Plylar, 88, passed away on August 2, 2010 at the Odyssey (hospice) inpatient house in Peoria, AZ. Elizabeth Ann was a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker. She loved music and she enjoyed helping others. Her positive personality and her optimistic spirit gave hope and encouragement to all who knew her. She is survived by her only son Russell Plylar, Jr., her daughter-in-law Deborah, her grandchildren David Plylar and Vanessa Kisicki, and two lovely great grandchildren Lauren and Corinne. Elizabeth Ann grew up in Mt. Carmel, IL and was a graduate of Mt. Carmel High School. She moved to Chillocothe, MO to attend Chillocothe Business College where she met the love of her life Russell Plylar. During World War II she rolled bandages to help the troops. She worked as a legal assistant in a patent law firm in St. Louis while Russell served in the Army. The family lived for 12 years in Durham, NC. where she was a member of Trinity Avenue Presbyterian Church. In 1965, she and Russell moved to Winston-Salem, NC. Elizabeth Ann and her husband Russell were members of First Presbyterian Church in Winston-Salem from 1965 – 2005. Over the years, they enjoyed visiting family and taking vacations with Russ and Deborah. Elizabeth Ann and Russell made the difficult decision to leave their beloved NC and move to Phoenix, AZ to be with family in the summer of 2005. A memorial service was held for Elizabeth Ann at Pinnacle Presbyterian Church in Scottsdale, AZ. Elizabeth Ann was laid to rest next to Russell, her husband of nearly 67 years at Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston-Salem, NC on August 9, 2010. Condolences may be sent to Russell Plylar, Jr., 1620 E Ross Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85024. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that friends support their favorite hospice organization.
