Elfrieda Gorman

December 31, 1969 — February 26, 2015

Elfrieda Gorman born October 20, 1919 made her journey to Heaven, February 19, 2015.  She was 95.  Elfrieda was born in Hoisington, Kansas and at the age of 13 moved with her family to Yucaipa, California.  She was the first in her family to graduate high school.  She received her diploma from Redlands High School.  She married Herbert Smith in 1939.  They had two children, Herbert and Linda. Elfrieda and Herbert divorced in 1948.  Elfrieda worked for Bethlehem Steel and then Douglas Aircraft for the next 25 years.  She met Harold Gorman and retired.  They move to Durango, Colorado.  Herbert her son married Mikki Scott, they had two children, Dena and Michael.  Dena has two children, Doran and Caytelyn Engelson.  Michael has three daughters; Summer, Taylor and Kristine Smith.  Linda married Terry Streeter.  They have two daughters; Monica and Korrin.  Monica married Edgard Assaker.  They have a son, Jasper.  Korrin married Karl Deines.  They have three children; Alison, Sarah and Matthew.  Elfrieda was active in Eastern Star for many years as well as Daughters of the Nile.  She enjoyed church work as she remained ECW President of St. Marks in Durango for several years.  She volunteered for eight years with the Senior Health Insurance Assistance Program in Durango.  Elfrieda and Harry moved to Sun City, AZ in 1998.  Harry passed in 2007.  Elfrieda enjoyed an active lifestyle despite her physical challenges and made the best of what she was given.  She enjoyed socializing, playing cards, bingo, Wii bowling and especially puzzles.  She maintained connections with family and friends through phone calls, letters and home visits.  We miss you Grandma.
