Eileen McDonald

Eileen Mc Donald, 87, passed away peacefully at home on January 7. She was born in Newark, New Jersey on November 22, 1921 and attended Saint Elizabeth Academy and Caldwell College, both in New Jersey. Eileen met her husband James after World War II and was happily married for over 60 years. Jim and Eileen moved to Phoenix in 1971, and have lived in Paradise Valley, Scottsdale, Dewey, and Sun City. Eileen volunteered at Florence Crittenton Thrift Shop, was an avid reader, dedicated homemaker, and loving mother and wife. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother James, sister Marguerite Jonelis, and her son James. She is survived by her husband James, daughters Maureen Hoyt, Kathleen Williamson, Claire Bassett, and son Robert McDonald, as well as grandchildren Leah Iverson, Charles and David Hoyt, Bill Lane, Erin and Caitlin McDonald, James and Katey Bassett, and four great granddaughters. Eileen was an exceptionally gracious and cheerful person, and will be deeply missed by family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Florence Crittenton Services 715 West Mariposa Street, Phoenix, AZ 85013, or Hospice of the Valley, Phoenix, AZ. A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 9728 W. Palmeras Drive, Sun City, AZ 85373, on January 16th at 11 a.m. with a reception following at the parish hall.
